Mrs. Carmen Vanessa Byrd Bishop was born on November 23, 1963 to Almeta Miller and the late Van Byrd in Hartsfield, South Carolina. On Sunday, November 7, 2021, she gained her wings.

She attended Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and graduated from North Forsyth High School. Her employment included: Carolina Beauty School, H & R Block, Four Brothers, and caregiver for young children.

A member of Life Changing Transformation Church Ministries, she actively participated in the Hour of Prayer and was a Youth Sunday School Teacher. When she was not attending church activities or working, she enjoyed babysitting her great nieces and nephews whom she affectionately called "fufu's". She also found joy in the fellowship of cookouts and fish fry's.

She was preceded in death by her father, Van Byrd; mother-in-law, Suzie Bishop; stepfather, Robert Miller; brother-in-law, Stephon Bishop; aunt, Rosa Lee; uncle, Sam O'Neal; and cousins, Gina Gambrell and Abigail O'Neal.

Mrs. Bishop is survived by her husband, Irby Bishop; children, Ibretha Horne, Latoya Byrd, Te'Carra Byrd (Shanell Gambell); grandchildren, Chrishawn Bitting, Steven Hughes, Jr., Khaliya Taylor, Ta'Mari Terry, Janiya Fields; her mother, Almeta Miller; sisters, Alison Miller and Shirley Bacote; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Givens and Stephanie Moody Bishop; brother-in-law, Ricky Givens; aunt, Bertha O'Neal; nieces and nephews, Terrance Bacote, Shamekia Bacote, Marcel Bacote, Candace Bacote, Angelica Bacote, Dae'Quan Miller, James Perry, and Antwon Miller; and more than 20 of her nieces and nephews, also known as her "fufu's".

Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Life Changing Transformation Church Ministries, 2001 NE 25th Street, Winston-Salem, NC
