Mrs. Brenda Transou Simmons, 74, departed this life on Tuesday March 3,2026 peacefully at Ridge Valley Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in North Wilkesboro, NC. Brenda was born December 5,1952 and was (the second youngest child) to the late Robert Wilford Transou and Nellie Pearl Pinson Transou.

Brenda attended public schools in Davidson County at Midway Elementary and North Davidson High School and was a graduate of Winston Business College. Brenda was employed at Integon Insurance for 30 years.

Brenda was a member of Goodwill Baptist church of Arcadia, NC, until she met and married the late Rev. Gary M. Simmons where she joined and became a dedicated member of Goler Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church in Winston-Salem, NC.

Brenda had a passion for playing the piano and the organ that started at an early age. Up until the end Brenda maintained her kindness, grace, compassion and appreciation of love for her family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her late husband: Rev. Gary M. Simmons; parents: Mr. Robert Wilford Transou and Mrs. Nellie Pearl Pinson Transou; brothers: Sherman "Bobby", Richard, Ray Allen, and Jerome.

She leaves to cherish her memory, sister Pearline T. Imes (Roy/deceased) Royster, NY; brothers: Jimmie l. Transou (Wilma/deceased), Joseph F. Transou (Nicole/deceased), Ervin B. Transou (Carolyn/deceased) of W-S, NC and Leon K. Transou of Kernersville, NC; and a host of nieces and Nephews, family and friends. Special thanks, cousin Loretta Pinson, Simon and Irene Coleman. Brenda will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Public viewing from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service 12:30 PM, Friday, March 13, 2026 at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church, 1435 E. 4th Street, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, 27101. The family will receive friends thirty-minutes prior to service. Interment in Parklawn Memorial Park.
