Mr. Bowman Ray Williams, Sr., 89, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 4, 2017 following an extended period of illness. He was born to the late Ed C. Williams and Dora Bowman Williams in Winston-Salem, NC on August 16, 1928. His brothers, James and Cornelius Williams and sister Marcelette Williams, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Williams graduated from Atkins High School. He attended Bluefield College and gave honorable service for his country in the US Army. He retired from Western Electric (now AT&T) after 30 years. He was a life-long member of The Greater Church, formerly Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Williams; daughters: Vickie (Tony) Sanders and Bernita McCoy; sons: Bowman R. Williams, Jr. and Richard E. Williams; nine grandchildren and several extended family members and loyal friends.

A funeral service will take place at 11:30 AM, Friday, September 8, 2017 at The Greater Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church.
