Bennie Edward Lassiter, Sr. was born December 22, 1948 to George W. Lassiter and Virginia "Vergie" Stephenson Lassiter in Seaboard, NC. He departed his earthly body to his heavenly one on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Bennie was the youngest son of five children.

Bennie received his early education from the Northampton County Public School System and graduated from Gumberry High School, Class of 1969. He was baptized at an early age and was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Seaboard, NC where he served on the senior choir, mass choir, and the male chorus.

Bennie retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after 30 years.

Bennie was preceded in death by his father, George W. Lassiter and sister, Carolyn L. Williams.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Virginia S. Lassiter; wife of almost 51 years, Annie "Mae" Edwards Lassiter; son Bennie E. Lassiter, Jr., (Monica) of Winston-Salem, NC; Kendra Rowdy (Cory) of Kernersville, NC Cheryl Kearse (James) Oceanside, CA; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, George Lassiter (Linda) of Smithfield, VA; sisters: Delois Locust of Gretna, Virginia, and Shirley L. Boone of Waldorf, MD; brothers and sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he adored.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Dreamland Park Baptist Church. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Gardens of Memory.
