Arnstine L. Rice Crawford made her transition to glory on August 6, 2018 at her residence after an extended illness. Arnistine, the youngest child of the late Edgar Oliver Rice and Thelma Elizabeth Sherard was born on March 24, 1943. She attended public schools in Winston-Salem, NC and graduated from Columbia Heights Senior High School on June 5, 1962. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and attended Morning Star Baptist Church with her mother, who was the musician at the church. Arnstine later joined Mars Hill Baptist Church where she served with many auxiliaries. In 1963, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Rev. Lewis R. Crawford Sr. Four children were born from this union. As a mother and mentor, she was always diligent and committed. She worked for R.J. Reynolds in various administrative roles and later retired. She supported her husband in his ministry and served as the choir director and musician at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, and New Unity Baptist Church. She was known in the community for always showing love and support for others. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. L. R. Crawford Sr., their son, Lewis R. Crawford Jr., and her brothers Herman Rice and Thaddeus Rice. Left to cherish her memory and share her legacy are her daughters; Nerrissa M. Dudley, Felicia A. Cuthrell, Cynthia L. Crawford, Wyvetra C. Crawford; four grandchildren, Michael (Shameia) Crawford, D'Andre Cuthrell, Brittany Coleman, Nerrissa Crawford; two great grandchildren, Skylar Crawford and Siana Crawford; a brother, Charles Rice; a sister, Alice James; aunts, Doris Sherard Morrison and Moniece Sherard Vandiver; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Goodwill Baptist Church, Clemmons, NC. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service. Interment in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
