Alice B.
Riley
Sep 17, 1950 — Apr 23, 2026
Evangelist Alice Oretha Baldwin Riley was born September 17, 1950 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the late Myrtle L. Baldwin and James Dennis Baldwin. She departed this life on April 23, 2026 at her home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Denard Lowery and her sister, Vicki Baldwin Anthony.
Evangelist Riley received Jesus Christ at a very early age when she asked Him to be her daddy at the age of five. She began then developing her rela-tionship with Jesus while a member of Friendship Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend S. E. Tyndall. Later Alice moved to Davie County and became a licensed Evangelist under the pastorate of Reverend Melvin Kelser of New Shepherd Baptist Church in Cooleemee, North Carolina. She then became a member of Redeemed Missionary Baptist Church where she served under the current Pastor, Rev. Gary B. Walker, assisted in preaching and teaching the Word of God and assisted in Missions, leading the Grand Villa (Salem Terrace) Assistant Living Home and Food Project Outreach Ministry. Alice attended Sunday School and Bible Study as her health permitted.
She enjoyed spending time with her two special young neighbors, Mary and Bessy Turcios Cruz whom she attended to when they were very young children. She enjoyed playing Scrabble with them once they became young adults. She also enjoyed long conversations with her cousin, Yvonne and her sister Vicki, who were known as The Three Musketeers.
Evangelist Riley was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System, graduating with honors from Paisley Senior High School in 1968. She earned her B.S. Degree in Nursing at North Carolina College in Durham (now North Carolina Central University) on July 31, 1973 and entered her career in Nursing at Forsyth County Medical Center. Later, she received her Paralegal Associate Degree from Davie County Community College. Alice co-founded Mothers Helper, Inc. and later founded Babe Speaks, Inc. to assist mothers with special needs babies.
Evangelist Riley leaves to cherish her memories: her cousin, (the remaining Musketeer) Yvonne Lowery (Albert) Smith of Maryland; Pastor and Mrs. Gary B. Walker; devoted caregivers, Rev. Maurice Wright and Sister Evelyn Snead; the entire Redeemed Missionary Baptist Church family; faithful and dependable neighbors; cherished friends, Patrecia Byers, Roberta Jackson, Beverly Reid, Andrea Bush, Sylvia Gwynn, Minister Pecolia Breathette, Rev. and Mrs. Desmond Wynter; and a host of many other acquaintances.
There will be no public viewing. Funeral service 11:00 AM, Friday, May 1, 2026 at Redeemed Missionary Baptist Church, 1170 W. Clemmonsville Road, Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27127. Interment in Parklawn Memorial Garden.
