Ada Pauline
Hackley
Oct 10, 1925 — Jan 10, 2019
Mrs. Ada Pauline Hackley, 93, died peacefully at Sunrise Assisted Living in Lilburn, GA on Thursday, January 10, 2019.
She was born on October 10, 1925 in Dobson, NC, the daughter of Oscar and Ada Bowles Bryant. She later settled in Washington, DC with her beloved husband , James L. Hackley. She was a dedicated member of the Gospel Spreading Church of God. She received a Distinguished Service Award from Georgetown University where she was employed for over 20 years.
Many who knew her affectionately called her "Aunt Pauline". Aunt Pauline was strong-willed, courageous and bold. Even at an advanced age, she would still wash her car, cut her grass with a manual push mower, paint her front porch and clean her house. She prepared all her meals from scratch. She had a wonderful sense of humor and often showed her affection by calling you "ugly".
She is survived by her nephew, John Finney, who came to live with her as a young boy. He was like a son to her. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Aunt Pauline was preceded in death by her ten brothers and sisters.
Funeral service was held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, January 19, 2019 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. The family greeted friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
